Lessons I Live By

My oldest brother is a bouncer at a local club and since it's one of my last nights at home, I went to the club last night and boy! was it something. They had a booty shaking contest that turned into a semi-strip contest. The girls that got on stage had no shame. I couldn't believe there were females that actually put themselves out there like that for so little. The first go round, 3 girls competed for free drinks for the rest of the night. The music started and the girls started shakin' like there was no tomorrow and that was cool...but then they lost their damn minds. One chick pulled up her shorts and flashed the crowd half her lil area. Another pulled her shorts all the way down and shook it in her thong. While yet another decided to pop it on a handstand, which was pretty hype if you ask me, but that's not the point. The second contest was even worse than the first. This time 4 girls had the audacity to climb their happy asses onstage. One girl was the winner of the previous contest ( lil Ms. Drop-my-shorts-and-shake-it-in-my-thong). One girl looked like a nice girl with a well put together outfit. The music came on and she went for broke. She was shakin' so hard, her chest bout came up out her shirt. I got the shock of my life when I saw contestant #2: a cute lil white girl who could barely compete. But don't worry, the reigning champ walked over and converted the poor girls shorts to a thong for bonus points. Then came the big girl...she was wearing jeans, but to shake better she pulled 'em down. And shook it in her thong. By that time I was crying and I had to turn away. Since contestant #3 played her thong card already, lil Thongy shut the place down when she dropped down and popped it on a split. All this happened for $50. FIFTY DOLLARS!!! I was going to bring shame and disgrace upon myself I'd at least do it for a ridiculous amount of money, not a pair of shoes or a week's worth of gas money. To do somethin' like them girls did, the prize would have to be at least 4 digits and even then I wouldn't go that far. Anyway here are lessons experiences like last nite have taught me.
1. It's not about what you're called, it's what you answer to.
2. Don't give what you don't get. (i.e. love, respect, head...lol)
3. You don't need to talk the talk if you can walk the walk.
4. You can't change people.
5. Fix yourself first, before you go trying to fix others.
6. Don't get mad if you're called a duck for dressing like a duck. If it look like a duck...
7. Always act like a lady, you should be a role model.
8. If you don't love or respect yourself, you can't expect others to.
9. For every reason to cry, there's a reason to laugh. It's just hard to see through the tears.
10. When all else fails, fake it.
11. Keep it movin'!
12. Time is money. If you waste my time, you're messin' with my money.
13. Time is irreplaceable.
14. There is always some way to make money, some paths are darker than others.
15. Set some goals.
16. The only person you should try to please is you.
17. Keep distractions to a minimum.
18. Guys are distractions.
19. Respect authority, it comes in handy.
20. Never stop learning and growing.

I'll add to my list as time goes on, but 20 is a good stopping point for now...Ciao!
